Easy Ways to Refresh Your Space and Spirit for Spring

Bedroom night table no clutter, no electronics.

Bedroom night table no clutter, no electronics.

Spring is (almost) here! Let’s lighten and refresh our environments with a few easy actions that will also lighten and refresh our spirit!

Feng Shui Bedroom
Remove stacks of books or magazines from bedstands or night tables. Also, minimize the number of electronic devices plugged into the wall (computer, smartphone, alarm clock, TV). Each of these quick fixes will make the bedroom environment more restful.
To strengthen the restful nature of your bedroom even more, change the color/pattern of your bed linens to ones that are harmonious with your unique 5-Elements composition.

Reduce
Get rid of items in your home that you see on a daily basis, which have negative associations for you. For instance, something that was purchased at a difficult time in your life, or that reminds you of a relationship that went sour. Of course the smaller the object the easier, but do your best.

Engage the Senses
Bringing fresh air and sunlight into your home will refresh and engage the senses. Clean the windows, open them to let fresh air in. Open the doors between rooms to let air circulate. Play upbeat, positive and relaxing music while you’re making these changes. Use flowers, fruit and maybe even cookie-baking for naturally beautiful fragrance to waft through your home.

Bless Your Year the First Day of Lunar New Year

stone buddhaWhile February 4th began the metaphysical transition into Year of the Snake, Sunday, February 10th is the first day of Lunar New Year. That means February 10th is fully The Year of the Snake. Bless your year with this simple and profound practice: Get into an “attitude of gratitude” that opens the channel to receive Divine blessings. Can you acknowledge, even without being a follower of any particular religion, that there is a higher force or Being beyond our own limited perceptions? I know of even atheists who have come to perceive this truth.

Do some charity work or donation on February 10th – that will also help with gratitude practice.

Before 1pm visit a spiritual place or nature place and bring offerings of fruit, flower or lighted candle. Meditate, pray and reflect. Find the deep kindness and compassion within. Reconnect with the spirit of forgiveness. Even if you are not able to do this before 1pm, in any event it is essential to get to it before sunset. Taking this positive action to manifest these powerful thoughts is a spiritual cleanse that will allow you to face the Snake year with more equanimity.

By February 9th Place Pussy Willow Branches to Enliven Stagnant Energy

Allow the pussy willow branches to spread wide for most positive effect.

Feng Shui tip: Uplift the yin chi (low energy) of a stagnant corner with pussywillow branches for Lunar New Year.[/caption]Uplift the energy in your home with pussywillow branches. These harbingers of Spring will enliven the energy of a stagnant corner. This year best to choose one close to the center of your home. Pussywillow branches are perfectly in tune with an optimistic auspicious energy to welcome the New Lunar Year (Chinese New Year). Place a generous bunch in a tall vase in your chosen spot by February 9th for maximum energy effect.

Year of the Water Dragon 2012 Feng Shui Energy Tips

These energy tips are for all, but especially for the people of my beloved city, New York. As the song goes “if I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere…” New York City attracts the most driven and high-spirited people from around the country and the world trying to achieve their highest aspirations. For this reason, a lot of the people here feel great pressure all the time and are unable to relax or recharge as easily.

The Year of the (Water) Dragon that begins February 4, 2012 is a critical inflection point in the transitional cycle of humanity. So especially at this time, anyone who is serious about bouncing back or achieving their goals should tap into Chinese Five Elements Feng Shui energy techniques to create inner balance that can elevate positive energy and vibration, thereby opening the way to achievement of one’s higher goals.

If you were born in the year of the Hare or Dog, you need to be more careful to avoid accidents –  be extra cautious of any risky physical activities.  Any big moves that affect your financial portfolio should be discussed with wise counsel while applying a conservative attitude.

Things to do starting now and continuing through February 4th 2012:

  • Visit a spiritual place to reflect and set new goals in the Lunar New Year with a grateful heart, regardless of your current circumstances.  A humble and peaceful heart can connect to the Divine while a frightened or angry heart cannot – set yourself on the correct path.
  • Do some charity work and donation, especially during the Lunar New Year period – open the channel for the flow of prosperity.
  • Watch a Lunar New Year Lion Dance performance (preferably in person) to tap into the positive energy of many happy people.
  • Get an authentic Chinese Five Elements Feng Shui consultation that can help guide you to reach your highest potential personally and professionally in the upcoming Dragon year.  Time is of the essence to capitalize on the Dragon chi that could benefit you for years to come.

Energy-clearing rituals to do on February 3, 2012:

  • Do an energy clearing ritual that changes vibration of your space by using sage, incense, drums, bells or fire in a container at low energy meridian of the space according to authentic Chinese Five Elements Feng Shui, using a Feng Shui compass (Luo Pan).
  • Detox your space using energy-clearing prayers of the spiritual tradition you are aligned with.
  • Infuse sunlight and fresh air flow throughout the space.
  • Do a Sea Salt Bath or other spiritual cleansing Bath to wash off old and stressful energy from the ending Lunar cycle so that you’re open to receive the fresh new energy of the New Year.
  • Get a Life Reading by Master Pun Yin or Tin Sun Metaphysics on this day or prior to help you make the best strategy throughout the Year of the Dragon.

Test your luck in the Dragon Year:

If you are curious about your luck in the Year of the Dragon, you can measure it by trying to make eggs stand upright on a flat surface table around 6:22pm on 2/4 which is the official transitional time.  The wider side of the egg should be at the base, the more you can stand the higher your luck is, as long as you have good Feng Shui to complement it.  One can learn more about the significant of this ritual and how to do it properly by looking back in my website and blog about the event I held last year in Midtown Manhattan attended by the press and V.I.P. guests.

Helpful routines to stimulate and balance good energy throughout the Dragon year:

  • Find a location in the North or NorthEast direction near you that has some nature or landscaping that you can walk past every morning to put positive energy into your day.
  • Walk along the Hudson River or some other nature place where you can see the setting sun in the evening to release pressure that’s built up during the day.  This clears the slate so your evening can be happy.
  • Bring live or cut branches or flowers (never dried dead flowers) into your environment directly after one of the above actions to bring the positive energy with you into your space.
  • Do a sea-salt cleansing bath to reduce stress.

Things to be cautious about in 2012:

  • Avoid gatherings of large groups of people with destructive or negative energy because the energy can rub off on you.
  • Tune out from the news at night to clear and stabilize your energy for a good night’s sleep.

Bonus of Love to-do before February 4, 2012:

For an extra boost of positive energy, get an ideal companion who is always there for you emotionally.  Yes, before 2/4 2012, getting a dog during the Year of the Hare can bring you luck metaphysically since their correlation is beneficial according to the Chinese Zodiac system.

Veterinarian and bestselling author Dr. Allen M. Schoen, who pioneered the integration of holistic healing into animal health care and revolutionized the loving care of animals from humans validated this Chinese metaphysical suggestion.  His book Kindred Spirits encompassed findings about unconditional loving bound between humans and their pets that can increase the quality of life.  Dr. Schoen cautions though to make sure you have the right life style to have the right type of dog.  The wrong dog in a too hectic life could make life more stressful.

This is an unique piece of advice that merges ancient Chinese science of Feng Shui and Life Reading that has been followed for a couple of thousand years with a modern consciousness that relates with vibrational science humanity are more aware of now.

Adopting the right kind of dog before 2/4/12 could help boost happier energy for years to come and strongly recommended for people who live alone or have children who they can’t attend to enough.  This east meets west, old consciousness merges with new hopefully can bring more loving energy to the world in 2012 and beyond.

My Philosophy on Apprenticeship

Classical 5-Elements Feng Shui Luo Pan Compass

Lately I have heard from several people that they have hired Feng Shui consultants who advertise themselves as being trained by me, only to be disappointed.  Unfortunately they only checked their bona fides with me after paying and being dissatisfied with the work.  In a similar vein, frequently I receive emails from people asking me to train them, or to teach a course.  The answer is categorically no. While I do not want to be the last of the Tin Sun Lineage, when I do take an apprentice it will not be a stranger who emails me a request. I will choose an apprentice in the traditional way, and the apprenticeship will be of long duration as there is much to learn of Feng Shui Five Elements, Chinese Zodiac, philosophical and scientific texts and life.

Certainly, it has always been a possibility for me, with my high profile, to start a school and train hundreds or even thousands of people. However, this is not the way knowledge is passed down in my lineage for the very simple reason that what needs to be taught cannot be done in a simple course of even 500 or 1,000 hours. Most of the popularized feng shui available to American consumers is of a simplistic variety with rooms divided into sectors and common-sense ideas like ‘declutter’ emphasized. However, the true Feng Shui must incorporate the Five Elements and Destiny Profile of the individuals involved, in conjunction with the Earth Element (solar and chi) variation of each location. Balancing people’s consciousness with the Earth Energy is the only way that the true purpose of Feng Shui can be accomplished.

Many of my loyal long-term clients tried other feng shui practitioners first so they had a context within which to judge what I do, and the feedback I have from them does not surprise me. The authentic form of Feng Shui by a real master not only balances the energies of the client’s environment but also heightens the client’s awareness – a comprehensive approach to the whole life and/or business of the client. Anything less is just interior design – which is important on its own terms but it is not Feng Shui.

Thank you for reading this post. It is important to disseminate the information that I do not do trainings or have any apprentices to date. I am not responsible for people of low morality who use my name completely unauthorized. Do your homework and research before deciding on a Feng Shui Master. My next post will be a checklist for Feng Shui clients looking for a Master or practitioner.

Blessing Ceremony at Gouverneur Healthcare Services

Today I did the Feng Shui Blessing Ceremony for the opening of Gourverneur Medical Services’ new ambulatory care pavilion in the Lower East Side, New York City. I was involved in the Feng Shui aspects of the design from the beginning, a very large and involved project with many stakeholders. The finished plan had most of my Feng Shui prescriptions included, and blessing the building today in the opening ceremony with many politicians and dignitaries added even more positive chi to this new building.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Wedding 5 Elements Composition

The Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will be lifelong and successful according to Chinese Astrology because they have the Five Elements composition that can enhance each other and weather any storms.

One of the life partners (in this case Prince William) has all Five Elements in his natal composition, so he has the strength to stay grounded even if the rug is pulled out from under him.  This composition is seen in other iconic couples such as President Ronald Reagan & Nancy Reagan (President Reagan had all Five Elements) as well as President Bill Clinton & Hillary Clinton (Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has all Five Elements).  Stable relationships are very difficult to maintain if neither partner has the emotional strength that is characteristic to people having all Five Elements completeness  (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal) discussed in my website.

With the combined 100 years field observation in Destiny Reading & Five Elements Feng Shui

Prince William & Kate Middleton Engagement Photo by Mario Testino

between my father Master Tin Sun and myself, Master Pun-Yin of the Tin Sun Lineage system, we concluded that almost all successful marriages that stick, at least one of the partners ALWAYS has this Five Elements composition.

Only around 12% of the population has all Five Elements and these are always people born to affluence or with the leadership qualities that enable them to achieve fame and fortune on their own merit.  They are the group that can see the big picture and be able to make personal sacrifices with grace when necessary.  We are sure Prince William will do the right thing even in hard times as he did when he was a young child walking with dignity behind his beloved mother’s coffin in 1997.

In my next post I will go over the Destiny Reading results for this marriage, according to the Tin Sun Lineage derived from thousands of years old Chinese texts on Face & Palm Reading.
